Girl's Rinzu Ceremonial Kimono with Colorful Bingata MotifThe silk for this kimono is light weight. It has been woven in a pebble pattern. The damask cloth hosts a design of cranes, butterflies, cherry blossoms, peonies, water symbols and chrysanthemums. These are presented in vibrant primary colors on a rich beige background. The crane is outlined in heavy gold cording and many of the other objects are painted in gold outlineing and accents. Bingata is associated with Okinawa. It is an Okinawan paste resist dyeing technique that uses both tube drawing and stenciled patterns. Bingata is known for its strong use of color and its unique style.
