MONKS DÔFUKU RO WEAVE IRIDESCENT SUMMER ROBE The dôfuku was the leisure garment of lay monastics and other men who have functionally retired from worldly cares to devote themselves to spiritual or artistic matters. Sometimes, those in orders would wear a kesa over it.By the early Edo period, the dôfuku had become the virtual uniform of tea masters (as masters of the "Way" of Tea), artisans, and haiku poets.
