Hello Maiko san! Early morning appointment in the Pontocho Geisha district!

Can you believe your eyes! These two Japanese ladies are wearing Taisho/ Early Showa Kimono! Take a long look at the length of the Haori and the traditional patterns of the Pre World War 2 era! The one wearing the Murasaki Shibori Haori is even carrying a purse made of vintage Kimono material.

I love this picture. The juxtaposition of the older Japanese people wearing western clothing and the two younger women wearing traditional Kimono that are at least 60-80 years old. Vintage Kimono is very popular on the streets of Kyoto and Tokyo right now. What a treat to see them worn!
