Taisho Era (1912-1926) Multi Technique Shibori Purple Haori The silk for this haori is lightweight. It has been decorated in a tie dye process known as shibori. Several ties have been used to create the design. Binding the cloth in particular ways before dyeing creates the shibori design of flowers and arrows. The shibori ties are kumo (or spiderweb), kanoko (ring dot) and ori-nui (undulating lines). The cloth was also treated with paste resist process so that the artist could use white, celery and pink on a purple field. The haori is fully lined and has a slight patina of age. 43 x 54 sleeves 19
