The silk for this haori is sheer and light weight. It has been decorated in a tie dye technique called shibori. The name of one of the stitches is oboshi, or large capped. This motif is made up of white and aqua squares on a purple field. A core or cone is used in creating this pattern. Stitching the cloth before dipping it in dye creates the arrow feather motif. When the stitches are removed the shape and shading of the arrow feather are revealed. The haori is lined in a brightly colored pattern of pink, blue and yellow.
